Catching up...

Well the past few weeks have gone by WAY too fast. I have been a busy bee trying to get ready for Christmas.... still not totally ready! The baby and I are doing great, you know besides the exhaustion, soreness, nausea, and the new and oh so lovely heartburn! I keep trying to remind myself to enjoy this time but right now June 27th can't come soon enough!

I am usually a very organized person. I like to have things done and ready long before they need to be. So when we found out that 2 would be turning into 3 I went to Lowes picked out my paint colors and was ready to paint! Well that didn't exactly happen. What was the craft room (and is currently a war zone) is going to be the baby's room... so the hot pink and brown walls aren't going to work for the nursery theme I want (bumblee bees. So cute!) But lately the only thing I feel like doing is sleep! Im hoping in the next few weeks I will recieve all this energy I keep hearing about! I promise to post lots of pictures of the makeover process.

In other news hubby got a promotion at work this week. I am so proud of him! He works so hard for our little family, I am so blessed to have found such an amazing man to spend my forever with.

I hope you all have an amazing Christmas weekend! I will be spending lots of time with family, relaxing, and eating! Merry Christmas!!

WILW

This week I am loving:

Vampire Diaries! Once I finished One Tree Hill I decided to start Vampire Diaries. I really like it so far :)

Tomorrow is my 4 year anniversary with the world's best husband. I am so blessed to have such an amazing man in my life.

Saturday we are hanging out with some friends and I have my jazzercise Christmas party :)

Monday we had friends over for dinner and to decorate gingerbread houses. It was soooo fun! A few of the ladies didnt buy pre built houses... it was a disaster!

that our baby is finally the size of a fruit I can buy single-y (is that even a word?) this week baby Barrow is the size of a lime. I plan on taking weekly pictures to document the bump size and to incorporate the fruit to document baby's size too!

and more than ever I am loving my husband and this amazing life we share!

Life is changing...

Big things are happening at the Barrow house. Our lives are forever changing. We are having a baby! I cannot even begin to describe how happy, excited, and impatient I feel! I am about 11 weeks, my projected due date is June 27th (Which seems like FOREVER away). There is so much to get done but right now all I want to do is sleep! What a toll this little human has taken on my body and as I hear the worst is yet to come!

At this time in my life I feel so blessed to have such an amazing family. You may have noticed that "scared" was not in my list above explaining my feelings. I can honestly say I have no fear about this adorable baby coming into our lives (well besides the health of the baby of course) I feel very prepared. You see I have A LOT of experience when it comes to squishy little people. I am the oldest of 5, I worked in many daycares... including being the lead teacher in the infant room at one, and I have three little nieces and nephews that have allowed me to practices on them. I do realize it is different when it is your child and they are screaming at 3am but I really feel prepared for this journey. I know life is going to throw us curve balls but beyond being prepared I know what an amazing support group we have.

But what is even better than the amazing family I have is the amazing husband I have. I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful man to share this journey with. Justin is going to be a fantastic father! Our baby is so blessed to have him as a Dad. To prove to you just how amazing he is I challenge you to read his blog http://theloveofadaddy.blogspot.com/

Justin and I will continue to update our blogs so keep checking back for new news :)

WILW, TIPFUL THURSDAY...

So I haven't updated for a while... here's the thing I have been super busy (more like super lazy) here is what we have been up to the last week or so. Thanksgiving was great! It is always so wonderful to have extra days off with my lovely husband. Ashlee and Tyler came down from Utah with their sweet baby boy Raiden (he is seriously too cute for words) Lots of games were played and tons of food was devoured. We also took some family pictures over the weekend ( I'll post them at the end) Now I just need to get them printed and finish our Christmas cards.

So I missed WILW, yesterday I was home sick. I have a terrible cold and basically slept my entire day away. It was wonderful. I'll make up for it now. This week I am loving:

that it is December! I love the cold weather, Christmas, hot chocolate, family time, and presents :)

that I have all our Christmas decorations up, except the tree, we are going with a REAL tree this year (so excited) so we are going to wait a few weeks. Don't want it to die before Christmas gets here!

that I finally watched Water for Elephants. I loved it!!! Def a movie everyone should watch

that I finished all 8 seasons of One Tree Hill... that is 174 episodes, I have a lot of free time at work :) Really love the show and can't wait for the new season to start next month!

and as always I am loving my life, family. friends. I am so blessed and truly grateful for everything I have!

Now onto Tipful Thursday.... yesterday I was watching Ellen and she had a home remedy type person on her show. Basically it was things you probably have at home that you can use to stay healthy. The one that jumped out at me was.... Vodka cures ear infections?!?!?! My question is: who is the crazy person that does this first to figure out it works? I personally don't have any vodka in my home but if you do and happen to also have an ear infection... problem solved!

and here are the pictures I promised:

Oh what a week....

Like I said in my previous post I was off work all week. I planned on getting SO many things done... what I accomplished was.... well nothing.

1) started painting my craft room... big changes are happening in that room!

2) took my car to my dad so he could fix my side mirror, funny story there...so I'm backing out of our drive way last week and our trash can attacked the car, taking my side mirror with it:(but thank heavens for amazing dads that will fix it for you!

3) watched like 1 million episodes of One Tree Hill.... seriously addicted to that show!

4) went grocery shopping.

5) bought Justin a new iPhone and took it to him at work.

6) went shopping with the little sista.

7) and took tons of naps! It was glorious!

The weekend before that Justin and I were both off for Nevada Day, it was alot of fun to have an extra day off with my hunny. Saturday we went to my dad's car show at Lake Las Vegas, it was so nice! The weather was beautiful and there were a lot of cars, great turn out I thought! While we were there we sat and watched some boat races... little remote control boats that is. It was pretty neat though, they go soooo fast and it's kinda fun when they crash :)

(Watching the boat races)

That night we went to a Halloween party with some friends. We were people from the game "Guess Who". We had a lot of fun! Yummy food, great company, and games!
Here we are in our costumes, pretty much the easiest and most comfortable costumes I have ever worn!

Tipful Thursday

My tip for this week is not a beauty tip, home improvement tip, or cleaning tip. I want to focus on the relationships we all have with our family.

Last night Victoria (the baby sister) and I went to Alexis' (the middle sister) graduation from the public speaking course she has been taking. We got there a few minutes late which resulted in us not sitting near eachother. The instructor had Alexis stand up and introduce her guests and say something nice about us. Alexis said " I love that you are my best friends and you are cute." It made me feel very special and I am sure Victoria did as well. So as it started and I realized it was going to be long and possibly slighty boring I texted Victoria "Why do we have to be such supportive sisters?" she responded "Good question".

After the class was over we went to Bj's for dinner. We talked and laughed and then laughed some more (I thought I was blind. haha) . When I got home I was telling the hubs about our night and how much fun I had. I realized that I am so blessed to have such a strong relationship with my baby sisters. Now I realize most siblings are close but I would bet almost no one has the bond that the three of us have. I know that if I ever need anything I can turn to them and they will do everything in their power to help me, I pray that they feel the same way about me. And that answered my question from above, we are supportive because we love eachother. It wasn't something super important that Alexis did, but it was important to her, which made it important to Victoria and I.

They are more than just my sisters, they are my best frineds, my support system, my favorite childhood memories, my safe place. "As long as I'm living..."

So my tip would be... nurture the relationship you have with your family. Not just your siblings, but your moms, dads, granparents, aunt, uncles, cousins, everyone. These are the people you turn to when your world is upside down or when you just need a good laugh. So call up someone in your family and go hang out together!!!

WILW

This week I am loving:

  • that I got to see my little sister Alexis graduate from her public speaking class last night. She is turning into such a beautiful grown up woman :)

  • that Halloween is almost here, which means Thanksgiving is just around the corner, which means CHRISTMAS!!!!

  • that Justin went to the doctor yesterday and his knee is doing fantastic and he no longer needs to go to PT (he just has to do his stretches at home), which means no more paying $40 a week! woo hoo!

  • that Justin's company picnic is this weekend! It is a huge event, tons of free food and games, and lots of sweet prizes! Wish us luck that we win something amazing :)

And as always I am loving my life and all the amazing people that share it with me.

Last minute decisions...

This weekend I had to go to Cali for a jazzercise meeting. It was 5 hours away and I had to be there early Saturday morning. So my amazing husband said he would drive down with me SUPER early Sat. find something to do while I was in my meeting (which was 7 hours) and then drive all the way back home. Did I mention that he is amazing?

So that was the plan.... well Friday night we met our friend Brittney for dinner. On our way back home Justin suggested that we call the hotel my meeting was at and see if they had any open rooms and maybe we would just drive down Friday. I was ALL for this idea! The last thing I wanted to do was get up drive down there, be in the meeting forever, and drive home.

I called and sure enough they still had rooms!

Well then Justin said he was going to take me to Disneyland! I almost wet my pants in excitement! You see I have a deep love for Disneyland, something that was engraved in me as a very young child. We always went to Disneyland as a family and made some great memories there.

The only problem was we made this decision at about 9:00pm, I quickly called my wonderful little sister Victoria and she agreed to come stay with the furry children. We left the house at 10:00, got to the hotel, checked in, and went to sleep at 4:00am. Then I was up for my meeting at 9:00am, spent the day jazzercising, went to a tasty pizza dinner with my love, tried to watch Cars 2 but it was TOO BORING!!, and then to bed we went at 11:00pm. Our alarm went off at 6:00am and off we went an hour later we were pulling into Disneyland. It was so much fun to spend the day with my husband! We rode tons of rides and ate lots of delicious food. Unfortunately we didn't get to stay longer, at 5:00pm we were on our way home, pulled into the garage at 9:30 and were getting into bed at 11:30! Whew... what a crazy, busy, but totally awesome weekend! Thank you babe for being so good to me! I love you to the moon and back :)

This is me totally kicking butt on the Buzz ride:

And the picture on "the steps" for mom:

Haunted House making

Last Monday we had some friends over for a Haunted House decorating party! I can't take credit for setting this event up, Kayla LOVES Halloween and has planned lots of fun things for us all to do as a group! So to help Kayla out a little we offered to have this even at our house. It was so much fun! This is our house below:

I allowed Justin to decorate the back of the house how ever he wanted... this is what I got:

The finished Houses:

And the winners are......(drum roll please) Meagan and Justin!!!

Fab Find Friday... on Tuesday.

Friday after work I went and did a little shopping. Just for fun with extra money I had from my birthday still. Here is one of the things I found:

It's hard to see but that clearance tag say $9.99... originally $49.99. Total savings of $40, I'd say that is a Fab Find :)

Framing a bathroom mirror

My most recent home project was framing our downstairs bathroom mirror. This was a super easy and cost effective way to spruce up our little bathroom and get rid of the BORING contractor style mirror. In total the project cost me $21 and I have tons of extra tiles I plan on using for another project!
So here is what I did.... Went to Lowes and bought a pack of tile like this:

and a tube of adhesive. Make sure you get something that says it works with ceramic tile. Then I took all the tiles off the backing and separated them into piles, decided on the pattern I wanted, and started gluing. When I reached the point where the tiles were going across the top of the mirror I used painters tape to hold them in place. Like this:

Make sure you let the tiles set overnight! Trying to see if they are dry sooner than that will only result in wiggling the tile loose, some cursing, and a little more gluing. After the tiles were completely set I took off the painters tape, cleaned the mirror, and took a step back to admire my handy work. I am totally in love with how it turned out!!

Tipful Thursday...

So this weekend I went to Town Square with my sister and she took me into Inglot, (it's a cosmetics store) which I have never been to before. They have sooo many fun colors and types of makeup! They are also very reasonably priced!! Earlier that day I did a little makeup session with one of my girlfriends Kayla, we talked about this new gel eyeliner I bought and how I was unsure if I liked it or not yet. Well Lex needed liquid eyeliner (that's why we went to Inglot) the super nice girl working at the store showed us a little tip... and this is what I will be sharing with you! She said she likes to use the gel eyeliner and mix it with Duraline, it basically turns the gel eyeliner into a liquid eyeliner! I was totally amazed! I always liked the way liquid eyeliner went on, but could never find one that stayed dark all day and didn't flake away. Gel eyeliner stay dark all day and don't flake but I have a much harder time getting it to just FLOW across my eyelid. So I bought some Duraline (it was like $9 and will seiously last YEARS) and went home to play. I LOVE it!!!! Not only does it turn a gel eyeliner into liquid, I also turned eyeshadow into a liquid liner!!! So many fun options :)

Morning love notes

One of my favorite things to wake up to is the cute little love notes Justin leaves me on the mirror. And sometimes I just don't want to erase them, but it's hard to clean the mirror around them. So I came up with a solution.... a love note chalkboard!! All I did was tape off a square, paint it with chalkboard paint, and hang an empty frame around it. It's perfection!!

Tipful Thursday

Ok this weeks tip is..... When painting a mural on your wall use chalk to draw it instead of pencil. Now I am sure pencil works just fine but I prefer chalk. While I was drawing my tree (pictures below) I, along with the help of my SIL, drew the tree on with chalk, this way if you make mistakes and don't like what you have drawn you just wipe it right of with a DRY rag. Then you just paint right over the chalk, your paint brush might get kind of goopy (not sure if that is a real word) just wipe it off and keep going! I am currently painting a design in our bedroom but I am not done yet. When I finish I will be sure to post a picture :)

Fab find Friday

Wednesday after work I found this super cute (and super heavy!!) mirror in my neighbors trash. So OF COURSE I took it. It's not stealing if they were throwing it away! Right?!?! Anyways, so I come upstairs with my new treasure and the first thing the hubs says is "Oh my wife". I'm going to assume that was a compliment. Well the mirror quickly found it's home in our master bedroom above our closet :)

Today I went shopping with some of my birthday money. Yay birthdays! Anyone who knows me well can tell you about my shoe addiction. So I am at TJ Maxx hoping to find some new shoes for my collection, and I find the most adorable shoes ad they were only $35! So I grab (what I think is) my size and try them on... no bueno, they do not fit. I very unhappily left the store and headed to Burlington Coat Factory. Well guess what?!?!? They had the same shoes and for only $20, and the best part, in my size!!!! I am a happy girl!

Thursday, September 1, 2011

Tipful Thursday

I wear heels about 5 days a week. I love them!! What I don't love is when they slip off your heel while you walk.

One day while wandering around Target I saw these heel cushions. They are about $5 and WONDERFUL! I have them in every pair of heels I own (which if you ask my husband is way too many pairs) !

So my tip for you is... if you wear heels buy these!!!

The pallet.....

So I have been talking about getting this hung up for about a month now and my amazing BIL finally had time this weekend to do it!! I'm so in love! All I did was get a free pallet and hang it backwards on my wall! The hubby.... and well everyone else... looked at me like I was totally crazy when I told them what I was doing but now they all love it too!! Free home decor is my favorite! Woo hoo!
